The peacock has been a symbol of immortality and the resurrection in Christianity since ancient times. The peacock's feathers molt annually, and the peacock's flesh is said to not decay. The peacock's fan tail has many eyes, which may represent God's all-seeing eye or the celestial bodies in heaven. The peacock is also often depicted drinking from a vase, which may symbolize drinking from the waters of life
